Govt plans forming commission over Bangabandhu murder: Mozammel

DHAKA, Feb 16, 2021 (BSS) – Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haq today said the government has a plan to form a commission to identify and put on trial those who were linked nationally and internationally with the killing of Bangabandhu.

“To identify and holding trial of the perpetrators who were nationally and internationally linked with Bangabandhu’s killing is an ethical demand of the nation …we won’t hesitate to perform that moral responsibility,” he said while addressing as the chief guest a discussion marking 80th birth anniversary of noted nuclear scientist Dr M A Wazed Mia at the National Press Club here.

“Those who were involvement with Bangabandhu’s assassination would not be allowed to go beyond the law,” the minister told the programme organized by Bangabandhu Gobeshana Parishad.

Chaired by Bangabandhu Gobeshana Parishad President Lion M Gani Mia, the function also was attended, among others, by Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, Awami League (AL) leader M A Karim, editor and publisher of the daily Nabochetona M Shakhawat Hossen, executive committee member of the Jatiya Press Club Shahnaj Siddiqui Soma and other leaders of the parishad, said a press release.

Terming scientist Dr M Wazed Mia, also husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a multi-talented person, the liberation war affairs minister said Dr M Wazed Mia was a meritorious student and at the same time he was a front line leader of the Bangladesh Chattra League.
