Only one reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 6, 2021 (BSS) – The lowest ever only one person was
tested for coronavirus positive today in Rangpur division where the
daily infection rate remains below 10 percent during the last one and
a half months.

Health officials said the only new case was reported after
diagnosing 116 samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in the
division at the lowest ever daily infection rate of 0.86 percent since
the beginning of the pandemic.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 2.40 percent on Friday, 3.14
percent on Thursday, 1.89 percent on Wednesday, 1.60 percent on
Tuesday, 3.95 percent on Monday, 1.46 percent on Sunday and 5.41
percent on Saturday last in the division.

“None was tested COVID-19 positive after testing 22 samples at the
COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC),” said Chief of
Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal
of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

On the other hand, only one new patient of Dinajpur district was
reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M
Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to
15,762 as one new positive case was reported in the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,762 patients stands at
4,016 in Rangpur, 789 in Panchagarh, 1,325 in Nilphamari, 964 in
Lalmonirhat, 1,012 in Kurigram, 1,506 in Thakurgaon, 4,692 in Dinajpur
and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
