10 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Jan 29, 2021 (BSS) – Only ten more people were tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today after testing collected samples at the two laboratories in the division.

Health officials said the 10 new cases were reported today after diagnosing 188 samples at the daily infection rate of 5.32 percent.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 5.85 percent on Thursday, 1.74 percent on Wednesday, 4.89 on Tuesday, 1.59 percent on Monday, 5.26 percent on Sunday, 4.26 percent on Saturday and 4.21 percent on Friday last in the division.

Among the 10 new patients diagnosed today, four were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The four new patients include three from Rangpur and one from Kurigram districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

Meanwhile, six new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“All of the six new patients are hailing from different areas of Dinajpur district,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:25 pm.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,731 as 10 new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,731 patients stands at 4,012 in Rangpur, 785 in Panchagarh, 1,323 in Nilphamari, 963 in Lalmonirhat, 1,010 in Kurigram, 1,504 in Thakurgaon, 4,676 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
