Country’s economy expanded by ten folds during AL’s regime :Lawmakers

SANGSAD BHABAN, Jan 28, 2021 (BSS)-Lawmakers today said country’s economic volume has been expanded by ten folds due to efficient leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“The volume of our economy was only 35 billion US$ in 1990, but it has been enhanced to 350 billion US$ under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi while taking part in the general discussion on a thanksgiving motion on the President’s speech in the House.

At the same time, per capita earning also has been significantly jumped to nearly 2100 US$, increased by four folds compare to the period during BNP-Jammat government in 2008-09 fiscal year.

In terms of growth, the minister said “Bangladesh secured top position in the South Asian countries and 3rd among Asian countries under the time-befitting leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina during the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the economic upheaval, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Enamur Rahman said the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have forecasted that Bangladesh will be emerged an influential economic power in the South Asian region by 2025.

On the issue of combating against corona pandemic, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister M Shahab Uddin said Bangladesh has significantly able to fight against the pandemic under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “The government has a plan to bring 4 crore doses corona vaccines as the vaccination begins in the country on Wednesday,” he added.

Even the Prime Minister has won the highest award on environment ‘champion of the earth’ and more than 38 prestigious international awards for acknowledging her contribution to the development of the country, the minister told the parliament.

Participating in the discussion, Deputy Minister for Water Resources Enamul HaqShamim said the country is marching toward development under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, adding that “there is no scope of conspiracy by any particular quarters to thwart this development.”

Calling the government for naming Padmanbridge after the name of the Prime Minister, Jatiya Party lawmaker Shamim HaiderPatwary of Gaibandha-1 said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been constructing the most intended Padma Bridge which would bring economic revolution in the country.

The lawmakers thanked President Abdul Hamid for elaborating the development and progress of the country which have been taken place during the tenure of the present government.

The lawmakers highlighted the successes of the present government in different vital sectors like education, power, agriculture, health, infrastructure development, economyand food production.
