Reception accorded to Saban Mahmud

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) has
accorded a reception to its outgoing Member Secretary Saban Mahmud for
being appointed as the Minister (Press) at the Bangladesh High
Commission in New Delhi.

DUJ accorded the reception by offering a bouquet of floral and
giving crest after its executing committee meeting at its office here
today, said a press release.

While addressing the program, DUJ President Kuddus Afrad urged the
media houses including the daily Manobkantha, the New Nation and the
Khola Kagoj, which are irregular in paying journalists’ salary, to pay
the salary regularly.

He also sought intervention of the government to implement the
Ninth-wage board award in all media houses to solve the financial
crisis of journalists across the country.

the New Nation Hemayet Hossen, Unit Chief of the Karatoa SM Sahabuddin
and Deputy Unit Chief of the Janakantha Polash Chandra Das, among
others, were present on the occasion.

Earlier, one minute silent was observed to pay tribute to late
journalist Khandokar Ataul Haque, Mizanur Rahman Khan, Hilali Wadud
Chowdhury, Kamal Lohani and Altap Mahmud.
