Govt to introduce online registration system for proper vaccine inoculation: Palak

DHAKA, Jan 25, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for ICT Division Junaid Ahmed Palak today said an online registration system is going to be introduced for proper implementation of COVID-19 vaccine campaign.

He made the remarks at a press conference on online registration for the COVID-19 vaccine at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital.

Palak said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the COVID-19 vaccination programme at Kurmitola Hospital in the capital at 3 pm on Wednesday.

On January 28, a total of 690 people will be vaccinated at Kurmitola Hospital, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Rahman Medical University Hospital, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, Kuwait Moitri Hospital and Mugda Medical College Hospital, he said.

Mentioning that 70 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already reached the country from India, he said the probable time for the countrywide vaccine inoculation campaign has been fixed for February 8.

Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Kaikaus joined the press conference through videoconferencing.

Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Secretary Tofazzel Hossain Mian, ICT Division Senior Secretary NM Ziaul Alam and Health Secretary Abdul Mannan, among others, were present.

Palak said the officials of the ICT Division have already developed a COVID-19 vaccine management system – ‘Surokkha’ software – so that people can know how to get vaccinated, how to register for vaccination and where to go to get vaccinated.

This Surokkha software was developed in consultation with the representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) and the World Health Organization, he added.

Noting that one can get registered for the vaccine visiting the web portal www.surokkha.gov.bd and downloading a mobile app, the state minister said none can be able to take the COVID-19 vaccine without registration.

He said alternative measures will also be taken for those who do not have access to internet facility or devices.

Palak said the people who are interested to take vaccines also have opportunity to get registered free of cost at Union Parishad Digital Centres.

“After registration, one can know when he or she would get vaccinated. However, only people above 18 years can get registered and take the vaccines,” he said.
