Jabbar releases commemorative stamps on Mass Uprising Day

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2021 (BSS) – The Postal Department has issued commemorative stamps on the occasion of the Mass Uprising Day.

A commemorative stamp worth Taka 10, an opening envelope worth Taka 10, a data card worth Taka five and a special seal were issued in this regard.

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Mustafa Jabbar, unveiled the commemorative stamp today and released the data card and special seal from his office in the city in this regard, said a press release.

Highlighting the significance of the day in the statement, the minister said that during the turbulent days from January 17 to 24, many people including Asad, Rustam, Monir, Matiur and Dr. Zoha were killed by the bullets of the dictatorial government. Finally the dictatorial government withdrew on 24 January following a eight day movement.

He said that the Bengali nation achieved great independence through the Liberation War in the continuation of the Language Movement , the 6th charter of liberation of Bengalis, 11 points and later the mass uprising of 1971.

The Philatelic Bureau of Dhaka GPO will sell commemorative stamps, opening envelopes and data cards from Saturday. Later it will be sold from all GPOs and post offices in the country.
