Sheikh Hasina survived assassination attempts 24 times: Eng Musharraf
CHATTOGRAM, Jan 24, 2021 (BSS)- Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, MP, said that there was an attempt to assassinate the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina, in Chattogram on January 24, 1988.
“She survived the attempt of assassination that day because the leaders and workers gave her protection. Assassination attempts were made 24 times since then, the people of the country and the national security forces have resisted the heinous attempts,” he added.
The former minister was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by Chattogram city AL at Shahid Bedi Chattar in front of the court building this morning.
Speaking at the function SM Kamal Hossain, organizing secretary of the Bangladesh AL, said that the role of those dedicated former students and youth leaders who were in Chattogram at that time in the fight against dictatorship was undeniable.
City AL acting president Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the function while Chattogram South District AL President Moslem Uddin Ahmed, MP, former Mayor and city AL general secretary AJM Nasir Uddin, General Secretary of Chattogram South District Awami League Mofizur Rahman, city AL Vice President Alhaj Noyom Uddin Chowdhury, Advocate Sunil Kumar Sarkar, Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul, CCC Administrator Alhaj Khorshed Alam Sujan, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury Bachchu, City AL Organizing Secretary Noman Al Mahmud, Shafiq Adnan, AL leaders Pradeep Kumar Das, Alhaj Shafiqul Islam Faruq, Chandan Dhar, Mashiur Rahman Chowdhury, Mahbubul Haque Mia and Abdul Ahad, among others, addressed the function.
