637 homeless get houses in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Jan 23, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 637 brick-built houses were handed over to the homeless and landless people of the six upazilas of the district today.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the houses handing over ceremony across the country virtually today. These houses were handed over to the beneficiary families after the inauguration of the transfer of houses among 34 homeless families of Nijpara village of Kamarpukur union of Syedpur upazila of the district through video conference by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at around 11:30 am today.

Of those houses, 99 in Sadar upazila, 34 in Syedpur, 36 in Domar, 185 in Dimla, 141 in Jaldhaka and 140 in Kishoreganj upazila.

After ending the inaugural programme by the Prime Minister, the respective upazila administration here handed over the documents regarding the ownership of the houses and other papers to the enlisted homeless and landless people of the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury told BSS.

He said all the houses were handed over to the beneficiaries of the district peacefully and after getting the houses all the beneficiaries expressed their gratefulness to the government and thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for standing beside them.

Citing a quote of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the DC said no man of the country would be homeless in future and for this the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took the step for giving the houses to the homeless and landless people on the occasion of ‘Mujib Barsho’.

Lawmakers Md. Adelur Rahman Adel and Rabeya Alim, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Wahab Miah, District Council Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Joynal Abedin, Deputy Commissioner Md. Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman, District Awami League President Dewan Kamal Ahmed and Syedpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Mokhchedul Momin were present at the inaugural function.
