Dhaka Abahani post second win in BPL
DHAKA, Jan 19, 2021 (BSS)- Abahani Limited, Dhaka recorded their second
successive victory in the Bangladesh Premier League Football beating Brothers
Union Club by 2-0 goals in their second round match today at Bangabandhu
National Stadium here.
With the day’s win, Abahani secured six points — equal with Bashundhara
Kings, (who have also six points from two matches)– from two matches while
Brothers Union Club is yet to open their account playing the same number of
matches.
In the day’s match, Brazilian forward Francisco Torres and striker Haitian
striker Kervens Belfort scored one goal each to secure Abahani’s facile
victory on the day.
Francisco put Abahani ahead converting a spot kick into goal in the 33rd
minute while Belfort sealed the victory scoring the second goal for the
traditional sky blue Dhanmondi outfit in the 40th minute of the match.
After the resumption, Abahani got several scoring chances to widen the
winning margin but could not convert any due to lack of proper finishing in
the remaining proceeding.
The popular Dhanmondi outfit dominated the entire proceeding and registered
their deserving victory while the all-orange Gopibagh outfit was totally off-
colored on the day.
Earlier, Abahani Limited got off to a winning start as they edge past
Bangladesh Police Football Club by a solitary goal while Brothers Union Club
suffered a 1-2 goal defeat to Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in both their
respective league opening matches.
Abahani will play their next match against Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends
Society at BNS while Brothers Union Club will meet Bashundhara Kings at
Shaheed Dhirendranath Stadium in Comilla. Both the matches will be held on
January 23.
Wednesday’s match: Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society vs Sheikh Russel
Krira Chakra at 4 pm at the same venue.
