23,013 recover from Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Jan 17, 2021 (BSS) – With recoveries of 66 more COVID-19 patients yesterday, the number of total cured patients from the lethal disease in the division now reached 23,013, said an official report.

A total of 2,914 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, it said.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, today said the death toll from the virus rose to 380 including 237 in Bogura and 54 in Rajshahi with one fatality reported afresh today.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,379 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,620 have been released.

Meanwhile, with detection of 23 new more positive cases in seven districts under the Rajshahi division on Saturday, one of the lowest in daily infection compared to the previous couple of weeks, the total number of infected patients in the division has risen to 24,912, Dr Habibul Ahsan said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest six were detected in Rajshahi including five in its city followed by five in Sirajganj, four in Bogura, three each in Naogaon and Joypurhat and one each in Natore and Pabna districts.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the reported COVID-19 cases now stands at 5,910 in Rajshahi including 4,425 in its city, 818 in Chapainawabganj, 1,578 in Naogaon, 1,220 in Natore, 1,343 in Joypurhat, 9,705 in Bogura, 2,693 in Sirajganj and 1,645 in Pabna.

Dr Habibul Ahsan said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.
