FM mourns loss of lives in Indonesia earthquake

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2021(BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen has expressed his deep condolence over the deaths of people in the earthquake that struck Sulawesi island of Indonesia in the early hours on Friday.

In a message written to Foreign Minister of Indonesia Retno L P Marsudi, Momen conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the Indonesian government, the brotherly people of Indonesia, and particularly to the members of the bereaved families at the tragic loss of precious human lives.

Momen prayed and hoped that the resilient and enterprising people of the country will withstand the calamity and successfully rebuild their homes and infrastructures to return to normal life.

He reiterated Bangladesh government’s commitment to work with the international community on disaster risk reduction and global climate change adaptation and mitigation issues.

Momen suggested that as both the countries are disaster prone, officials and rescue workers from Bangladesh and Indonesia can take part in jointly conducted earthquake drills and simulation exercises.
