DHAKA, Jan 14, 2021 (BSS)- GM Ziaur Rahman of SAIF Sporting Club still maintained his solo lead in the points table with 6.5 points after the seventh round games of the Mujib Birth Centenary Invitational FIDE Rating Chess tournament now being held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room of National Sports Council in the city.
Anata Choudhury of Uttara Central Chess Club is closely following the leader with 5.5 points.
Three players are sharing the 3rd position with five points. They are IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh Police, FM Subrota Biswas of Bangladesh Navy and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Titas Club.
Seven players are sharing the fourth position with 4.5 points. They are – IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, IM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed and CM S M Sharon of Bangladesh Navy, CM Sohel Chwdhury of Titas Club, CM Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Uttara Central Chess Club and Sariatullah of Bangladesh Police.
The seventh round games were held today (Thursday) where GM Zia beat IM Shakil, Anata beat FM Subrota, FM Parag split point with CM Sharon, IM Fahad beat WCM Ahmed Walijah, FM Nasir drew with CM Sohel, Avik SArker split points with Sariatullah, IM Minhaz defeated CM Nayem Haque, Swarnavo Choudhury split point with with FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon, CM Tahsin outplayed CM Jamal Uddin, CM Manon Reja Neer beat CM Sharif Hossain, CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed outclassed WFM Noshin Anjum, WIM Rani Hamid beat Jabed Al Azad, WCM Jannatul Ferdous beat WFM Nazrana Khan, Masum Hossain beat Mortuza Mahathir Islam, Nusrat Jahan Alo drew with CM Monir Hossain, Kazi Zarin Tasnim beat FM Saif Uddin, Asadujjaman defeated Marzouq Chowdhury, Wadifa Ahmed beat Tasnia Tarannum Orpa and Sakline Mostafa beat Sajid Syed Ridwan.
The eighth or penultimate round games will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 3:30 pm at the same venue.
