DNCC holds meeting over conducting coronavirus vaccination

DHAKA, Jan 3, 2021 (BSS) – A co-ordination meeting over conducting coronavirus vaccination activities was held at Nagar Bhaban of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) this morning.

With Mayor M Atiqul Islam in the chair, the meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of DNCC Md Selim Reza, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Md. Jobaidur Rahman, Director of Health Department Md. Belal Hossain, Civil Surgeon of Dhaka Moinul Islam and representatives of BRAC and Dhaka Ahsania Mission.

Mayor Atiqul Islam said, “We have to prepare ourselves in order to bring maximum number of people living in the DNCC are under the vaccination.”

A committee has been formed from the Prime Minister’s Office in this regard. This committee has prepared a priority list of health workers, frontline workers, elderly people and adult people who are suffering from chronic diseases.

Necessary measures will be taken to control law and order at vaccination centres for the smooth conduct of vaccination activities, he added.

The first shipment of the vaccine from the Serum Institute of India will arrive in the country by the end of this month or early next month.

In the first phase, 30 million doses of vaccine will be available, with which one and a half crore people will be vaccinated.

In the middle of this year, with the help of COVAX, another 60 million doses of vaccine will be available, through which another 30 million people will be vaccinated, the meeting informed.
