Media should unmask propaganda-mongers: Murad

DHAKA, Dec 27, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Information Dr Md Murad Hassan today said the media should come forward to unmask propaganda-monger, who are spreading rumor against country’s progress, and give them befitting reply.

“When Bangladesh is forwarding ahead in an indomitable pace under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina … the defeated communal force of 1971 is spreading propaganda in a planned way to interrupt the country’s progress,” he said.

The state minister added: “The media should come forward to unmask them (propaganda-mongers) and give befitting reply to them as media is the mirror of a country as well as the society”.

Murad made the remarks while addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club (JPC), marking the founding anniversary of the Daily Jonotar Adalot newspaper.

Noting that the present government is sincerely working to strengthen the country’s media to keep the people’s democratic rights upheld, he said alongside the government, the media should work on mobilizing the public opinion to build the non-communal Bangladesh with the spirit of the great Liberation War.

Editor of the newspaper Nure Alam Siddiquee Haque presided over programme while Department of Films and Publications (DFP) Director General SM Golam Kibria, Krishak League President Samir Chandra Chanda and General Secretary Umme Kulsum Smriti and journalist Manik Lal Ghosh addressed the discussion, among others.
