Razzaque for swift distribution of new technology among farmers

DHAKA, Dec 23, 2020 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque today laid emphasis on swift distribution of newly invented technologies and high-yielding varieties of crops among the farmers.

“Scientists and researchers of countries agri-research institutes have already developed many high-yielding varieties of crops and agri-technologies,” he said.

Private companies have also come up with many new technologies and varieties, he said, adding the process of handing over these technologies and varieties to the farmers should be expedited.

He urged all the related agencies of the agriculture ministry to identify the steps and develop policies for expediting the process of handing over the new technologies and high yielding variety to the farmers.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of a day-long workshop on ‘Research Expansion Connection and Strengthening Policy Development’ at the auditorium of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) at Farmgate in the capital.

The workshop was organized by BARC under the National Agricultural Technology Programme (NATP-II) Phase II.

Agriculture Secretary Md Mesbahul Islam was present as special guest at the programme.
