DUJA members must maintain objectivity: DUVC

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2020 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman today said members of Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) should depict the actual scenario before the nation maintaining objectivity.

“Students of the university who work as university correspondents for different media houses during their academic life play a pioneering role in media industries after their academic life. When we met the media persons, they applauded the expertise and quality of our students, especially those who did campus reporting”, he said.

He was addressing a seminar titled ‘The Pathways of Mass media During Post Pandemic Period’ organised by DUJA at university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate bhaban.

DU Pro-VC (Academic) ASM Maksud Kamal, DU Teachers Association (DUTA) Acting President Prof Lutfar Rahman, General Secretary Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan, General Secretary of DU Alumni Association (DUAA) Ranjan Karmaka also addressed the seminar, with DUJA former president Rayhanul Islam Abir in the chair.

Associate Professor of DU Political Science department Aynul Islam presented the keynote speech in the seminar, conducted by former DUJA General Secretary HM Imran.

Former Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haq Nur, President of Bangladesh Students’ Union (BSU) Foez Ullah and General Secretary Dipak Shil, leaders of different organisations and DUJA members were present on the occasion. Later, the ongoing DUJA executive committee handed over responsibilities to the new body.

Earlier, on October 11, Mehedi Hasan of Daily Kaler Kantha and Sazzadul Kabir of Banglanews24.com were elected president and general secretary, respectively.
