DHAKA, Dec 18, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister and Awami League joint general secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said communal forces will be resisted with iron hand.

“Communal forces will not be given a chance to bite in any way and they will be strictly resisted,” he said.

Hasan was speaking at a memorial meeting on late Major General CR Dutta Bir Uttam, one of the Sector Commanders of the Liberation War, at Dhakeswari Temple in the capital, an official press release said.

Bangladesh Hindu-Buddha-Christian Oikya Parishad and Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad jointly arranged the meeting.

Hasan said the International and communal forces, who stood against the country’s independence in 1971, killed Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman aiming to kill the state — Bangladesh.

That is why, after 1975, the state started walking backwards, abandoning the core spirit of establishment of the state, he said.

Noting that the communal forces are still alive in the country, the information minister said the forces have always been defeated and will be in the future.

He said Bangladesh sets an example of communal harmony under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Hasan warned that any attempt to create communal violence by spreading rumors in the country would be handled with iron hand.

Recalling the contribution of CR Dutta to the country’s liberation war, he said there are many things to learn from the life of Chitta Ranjan, a patriot, brave, honest and non-communal one.

Bangladesh Hindu-Buddha-Christian Oikya Parishad central leader Ushatan Talukder, MP, Dr Nim Chandra Bhowmik, Nirmal Rosario, journalist Swapan Kumar Saha, president of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Milon Kanti Dutta and general secretary Nirmal Kumar
Chatterjee were, among others, present.
