Attack on Bangabandhu’s sculpture means attack on constitution: BFUJ

KUSHTIA, Dec 14, 2020 (BSS) – Journalist leaders at a rally
arranged to protest the vandalism of the sculpture of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today said that attacking on
the sculpture of Bangabandhu in non-communal Bangladesh means
attacking on the entire country and the constitution.

The Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) held the rally
in front of the demolished sculpture of Bangabandhu at five
intersections in Kushtia this afternoon to protest the vandalism of
the sculpture.

President of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Quddus Afrad presided
over the rally.

Kushtia-1 constituency lawmaker Sarwar Jahan Badsha, DBC News
Chairman Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, BFUJ Secretary General Shaban Mahmud,
BFUJ Leader Mantosh Basu, Sadar Upazila Chairman Ataur Rahman Ata,
Jessore Journalists Union President Sajeed Rahman and Rajshahi
Journalists Union President Kazi Shahed also spoke, among others, in
the rally.

Speakers at the rally said that a united resistance must be formed
against those who vandalized the sculpture of Bangabandhu. “Strict
action must be taken against communal groups. So that none can dare to
do such thing in future,” they said.

The speakers also said that the killers of Bangabandhu have been
tried in this country, and like that those who have touched his
sculpture will be bought to music.

Leaders of various social and cultural organizations including Juba
League and Chhatra League were also present at the rally.
