Two die in separate train accidents in city
DHAKA, Dec 9, 2020 (BSS) – Two women were killed in two separate train accidents at Uttara and Tongi in the capital today.
The victims were identified as Shiuli Chowdhury, 47, and Rabia Islam, 70, a resident of Kurahati area of Louhjong police station in Munshiganj.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Dhaka Railway Police Station Airport Hedayet Hossain (ASI) told BSS that Shiuli died on the spot as she was hit by a train coming from the opposite direction while walking along the Uttara-Azampur rail crossing at around 11am.
After receiving the news, the Airport Railway Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
Meanwhile, Tongi Railway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Nur Mohammad Khan told BSS that an old woman named Rabeya Islam, 70, was killed when a train hit her in Tongi’s Bou Bazar Rail Crossing area at around 9:30 am.
