DHAKA, Dec 9, 2020 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been ranked the 39th among the world’s 100 most powerful women by the US-based prestigious magazine Forbes.

The list titled “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” was published by the magazine on its website on Tuesday.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel retained the top position on the list for the 10th consecutive year, followed by Christine Lagarde, president of European Central Bank in the second.

US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris secured the third position, while Queen Elizabeth II has been ranked 46 on the list.

The Forbes, in the Bangladesh premier’s profile, said Sheikh Hasina is working to establish a firm democracy in the country.

The magazine also wrote Sheikh Hasina, the president of the ruling Awami League, is the longest-serving prime minister of Bangladesh.

“It is her fourth and third consecutive term in office … she plans to focus on issues such as food security, access to education and healthcare during her fourth term,” it said.
