GOPALGANJ, Nov 28 (BSS) – Four people were killed and 19 others injured when a passenger bus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch in Tungipara upazila of the district at around 12 noon today.
One of the deceased was identified as van driver Akam Uddin. Identities of others could be known, police said.
Officer-in-charge of Tungipara Police Station AFM Nasim said the accident took place on Gopalganj-Pirojpur highway near Maleker Market area, when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch, while trying to save an engine-driven van.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent the injured to Gopalganj General Hospital, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana visited the spot.
