Indian provides 20 horses, 10 mine detection dogs to Bangladesh army

DHAKA, Nov 10, 2020 (BSS) – Indian Army today gifted 20 fully
trained military horses and 10 mine detection dogs to Bangladesh Army
towards further strengthening bilateral relations between the two
forces of the two friendly neighboring countries.

The Indian Army has also trained Bangladesh Army personnel for
training and handling these specialist dogs and horses, a press
release issued by Indian High Commission here said.

The horses and dogs, trained by the Remount and Veterinary Corps of
Indian Army, were handed over a ceremony at Petrapole- Benapole
Integrated Check Post (ICP) on the India-Bangladesh Border.

Chief of Staff of Brahmastra Corps of Indian Army Major General
Narinder Singh Khroud and while GOC of Jashore based Bangladesh army
division Major General Mohammad Humayun Kabir led their respective
side at the handing over ceremony while Brig JS Cheema of the Indian
High Commission in Dhaka was also present.

“We are always ready to extend our assistance to a friendly country
like Bangladesh in issues concerning security. The dogs which have
been handed over, are extremely effective in mine detection and
contraband items,” a senior Army official said.

Terming India’s partnership with Bangladesh as a role model in the
region for good neighbourly relations, the Indian High Commission
said, with this gesture, the bond which two countries share is
expected to grow even stronger.
