Russell inaugurates dev activities of Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College

GAZIPUR, Nov 4, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP today inaugurated the development activities of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College here at a cost of Tk 210.17 crore this afternoon.

“The last decade has witnessed a revolutionary change in the country’s health sector under the successful leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” Russell said while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the development activities of the hospital.

“Sheikh Hasina’s Bangladesh has set a shining example in the world in controlling the corona epidemic while the developed countries of the world are struggling to cope with the Corona epidemic,” said a Ministry of Youth and Sports press release quoting as he was saying.

Mentioning that since the beginning of the corona situation, the government has ensured the basic needs of people from all walks of life in the country, he said, “All this has been possible under the courageous and charismatic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

He went on saying, “The unique role of the Prime Minister in tackling corona situation is being lauded all over the world.”

He further said that success in the post-independence health sector in Bangladesh started with Bangabandhu’s hand.

Bangabandhu gave a good start for progress of the health system in Bangladesh by adding health to the list of fundamental rights of the constitution, giving important place to health in the first five years plan and establishing hundreds of rural health centers, he added.

He said that after re-assuming office in 2009, Bangladesh Awami League has started a new horizon in healthcare in the last one decade by setting up 107 new government-private medical colleges and a post-graduate nursing institute, including three new medical universities.

The State Minister said no one needs to go to Singapore or Thailand for better services now. The country’s hospitals are now ensuring better services to the people through the use of modern technology.

Principal of Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Prof. Dr. Asad Hossain, director Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur SM Tariqul Islam, Co-president of Gazipur Metropolitan Awami League Kazi Alim Uddin Buddin, among others, were present on the occasion.
