Shahriar asks missions to ensure services to every expat

DHAKA, Nov 1, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam today urged all Bangladesh missions abroad to ensure required services to every expatriate Bangladeshis.

“Make sure that no service seeker got denied to receive the required service (at the foreign missions),” he said while inaugurating Orientation Course for Counsellor/First Secretary (Labour) designate to Bangladesh missions abroad at Foreign Service Academy in the capital.

Noting that expatriate Bangladeshis going through hardship in the foreign land, Alam urged the labour counsellor to offer polite behaviour to them.

The state minister also hoped that the new officers will also take initiatives to expand manpower market in their respective host countries alongside providing well-mannered and smooth services to the Bangladeshi expatriates.

Some Bangladeshi nationals go to different countries with tourists visas and start work there illegally that put thousands of Bangladeshi legal expatriate workers in trouble, he said, adding that there is nothing like a free visa to work in any country.

Alam said Bangladesh’s economy is doing good compare to many countries amid the pandemic while Bangladesh expatriate workers have been less affected than workers of other labour sending nations.
