SYLHET, Oct 31, 2020 (BSS)- Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed today urged everyone to be vigilant so that no one goes abroad illegally or falls prey to brokers.

He made the call while addressing a function organized by the district police at Sylhet District Police Lines on the occasion of Community Policing Day today.

Referring to those who want to go abroad, Imran Ahmed said, “The government has given them the opportunity to go abroad legally and find employment. Many overseas job seekers are in danger for going through brokers. That is why we have to be careful.”

“The government is working sincerely to control the malpractices of the brokers. Various steps have already been taken. More drastic measures will be taken in the future,” he added.

The minister also said that there are many poor people who have fallen into the clutches of brokers and become poor as a result of fraud, so no one should be deceived by the brokers and they (brokers) should be identified and brought under the law.

The expatriate welfare minister called upon the common people and police personnel to work together to prevent the brokers and their cohorts.

The minister further said that the police are working to provide services to the people at their doorsteps.
Saying that smuggling has increased in Sylhet, he urged district police as well as the community police to be more aware and vigilant.

Sylhet Superintendent of Police Mohammad Farid Uddin presided over the function, addressed also by Sylhet Range DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed PPM, Metropolitan Awami League President Masuk Uddin Ahmed and District Community Policing General Secretary MZ Maula Chowdhury.
