Govt allots Tk 9.61cr as incentive for Jamalpur farmers

JAMALPUR, Oct 28, 2020 (BSS) – Agriculture department under the government’s post flood rehabilitation programme has allotted Taka 9 crore 61 lakh 83 thousand as incentive for farmers to cultivate 8 kind of crops in the district during this season.

Department of Agricultural Extension office sources here said a total of one lakh 10 thousand small and marginal farmers will get the incentives for cultivation wheat, mustard, sunflower, ground nut, lentil, Khesari pulse, tomato and green chilly.

Each farmer will get incentive for cultivation one crop on one Bigha of land, they said, adding that all of the farmers will get seeds but the farmers who will cultivate mustard, lentil, Khesari pulse, tomato and chilly will get fertilizer as well.

Sources said Tk 3 crore 45 lakh was allotted for cultivation of wheat on 25000 Bighas of land, Tk one crore 45 lakh 86 thousand for mustard on 33000 Bighas of land, Tk 84 lakh 24 thousand for sunflower on 6000 Bighas of land, Tk one crore 28 lakh for groundnut on 10,000 Bighas of land, Tk 84 lakh 52 thousand 500 for lentil on 10500 Bighas of land, Tk one crore one lakh 97 thousand for khesari pulse on 11000 Bighas of land, Tk 38 lakh 26 thousand 700 for tomato on 8500 Bighas of land and Tk 33 lakh 97 thousand 200 for green chilly on 6000 Bighas of land.

DAE’s deputy director Md Aminul Islam said the incentive distribution will begin as soon as possible after completing the selection of farmers.
