Arrest warrant issued against UP chairman Enamul in Fardipur
DHAKA, Oct 22, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today issued an arrest
warrant against Enamul Hasan, suspended chairman of Gopalpur Union
Parishad under Alfadanga Upazila of Faridpur district, in connection
with a case filed against him for making derogatory remarks about
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Court officials said Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam
today passed the order taking the case into cognizance as earlier
summoned Enamul Hasan to appear before the court.
Syed Riyad Mia, a law student of Dhaka Central Law College and
Deputy Publicity Secretary of Bangabandhu Chhatra Ain Paraishad, filed
the case with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on February 4.
Earlier, the Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Ministry
suspended the chairman and six members of Gopalpur Union Parishad in
Faridpur’s Alfadanga upazila for relief embezzlement amid the recent
spate of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, 66 public
representatives have so far been suspended across the country.
