Mostaq-Zia to be tried posthumously: Dr Murad

DHAKA, Oct 21, 2020 (BSS): State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan today said Mostaq-Zia will be tried posthumously for their alleged involvement in the brutal assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“The trial of a part of the killers, involved in the assassination of August 15 of 1975, has been completed . . . But the mastermind those remained behind the scene, including Khandaker Mostaq Ahmed and Ziaur Rahman will be tried posthumously,” he said while speaking at a function here today.

The state minister also called for the formation of a ‘Judicial Commission’ to look into the matter, saying, “It is now clear as daylight that they were involved in the killings.”

Bangabandhu Academy organized the programme at the Institute of Diploma Engineers at Kakrail here, on the occasion of the 56th birth anniversary of Shaheed Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and youngest brother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Academy president Md Nazmul Haque chaired the function. Former general secretary of Dhaka South City unit of Awami League Shahey Alam Murad, Bangabandhu Research Council (Gabeswana Parishad) president Lion Md Gani Mia Babul and Dhaka South City AL joint-general secretary Kamal Chowdhury, among others, spoke there.

Referring to the relentless works of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a prosperous Bangladesh, earlier dreamt Bangabandhu, Dr Murad said due to her(premier) efficient leadership, the ongoing development and progress of the country got worldwide appreciation.

The information state minister called upon all to remain alert for the implementation of Bangabandhu’s ideals and the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War at all levels.

The meeting also offered a special doa-munajat seeking sound health and long life of Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, also the ruling AL joint-general secretary.
