DHAKA, Oct 15. 2020 (BSS) – The University Grants Commission (UGC) today urged the Vice Chancellors (VC) of the country’s public universities to accelerate their online classes and involve a maximum number of students.

The directives were given at a virtual view exchange meeting between university’s VCs and UGC about running online classes, said a press release here today.

UGC said their efforts and initiative offering interest free loans for students and giving them internet bandwidth service for free will be continued.

Considering the pandemic situation, reopening the country’s public universities now will not be a good decision rather it will be a suicidal attempt as many universities of the world witnessed a rapid spread of Covid-19 once it reopens, said UGC citing the statements of VCs.

Regarding public universities’ admission test, decisions of principles will be made at a meeting, to be held on October 17 vowing to make the entry tests unquestionable, added the release.

Vice Chancellors of the country’s 46 public universities took part in the meeting with UGC Chairman Kazi Shahidullah in the chair.
