RAJSHAHI, Sept 9, 2017 (BSS)- State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, has said the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is pledged bound to building a prosperous Bangladesh through boosting production and generating employment.

“We have achieved the millennium development goals and now we are on the way to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030,” he said adding that the Awami League government believes only in the politics of development.

He was addressing a public meeting to mark the inauguration of some development projects at Pirgachha village under Bagha Upazila in the district on Friday afternoon as the chief guest.

With Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hamidul Islam in the chair, Bagha Pourasabha Mayor Akkash Ali and local Awami League leaders Nazmul Haque, Ashraful Islam and Saikat Hossain also spoke.

Shahriar Alam said Bangladesh has attained a remarkable success in various development indicators.

The country at present is progressing fast in every sector, especially improving foreign policy, ICT, food production, power generation and distribution, education, women empowerment, foreign remittance earning, GDP and per capita income.

Shahriar Alam said, “We’ve already stepped into the stair of a lower middle-income country from the lower-income nation. Bangladesh doesn’t want to stay at the lower ladder… it wants to climb to the peak and we will do whatever necessary for that.”

Becoming a lower middle income country is certainly something to cheer about. It makes us firmly believe that we will soon elevate to the status of middle income country, he added.

Alam urged the people to extend their whole-hearted supports to the government’s development activities.
