NOAKHALI, Oct 5, 2020 (BSS) – The law enforcement agencies arrested four persons for gang torturing a woman in Noakhali after more than a month of the incident which already became viral on the social media..
The victimized housewife, 35, filed two separate cases accusing nine for committing alleged gang torture on her after the incident took place on September 2 when the alleged miscreants beat her mercilessly and forcibly made her unclothed after confining her husband to a separate room.
The arrests were taken place immediately after the instructions by the district police super when the video footage drew his attention on the facebook.
The local police and the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four of the alleged group after conducting separate overnight operations on Sunday, said Harun Ar Rashid Chowdhury, officer in charge (OC) of Begumganj Model Police station.
The five units of the police arrested two accused –Abdur Rahim, 22, son of Sheikh Ahmad Dulal hailing from Joykrishnapur village of Eklashpur union and Mohammad Rahmat Ullah, 41, son of late Abdur Rahim from the same area—on Sunday night after conducting a drive for seven hours.
At the same time, the RAB also arrested prime accused Badal from the capital and Delwar, chief of Delwar Bahini, from Narayanganj, but the RAB is yet to hand over them to the police.
On September 2, prime accused Badal who also is known as a drug peddler, along with his associates stormed into the victim’s house at ward no-9 (Kahalpar area) under Eklashpur union of Begumganj upazila and attempted to rape her after confining her husband to a separate room around 9pm on the day, according to the details of the cases filed by the victim.
The miscreants, at one stage, started beating her and tried to unclothe her in an allegation of committing sexual abuse illegally with her husband who married her three years ago, but had no relations with the victim due to his second marriage. They also took a video footage of the victim after making her naked.
The other alleged miscreants are Abul Kalam, 22, Israfil Hossen, 22, Saju, 21, Shamsuddin alias Suman, 39, Abdur Rab alias Chowdhury Mia, 41 and Arif 18.
The local police official, however, said, ”We are trying to detain rest of the accused criminals and carrying out our drive continuously.”
Demanding justice over the incident, Nur Islam, victim’s father, told that they are frightened to take any further action against the accused as they are influential.
