DHAKA, Sept 30, 2020 (BSS)- Sharply criticising BNP’s politics, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP has destroyed the politics and imported black money and musclemen in politics.

“BNP and its cohorts cannot praise the government and they only remain busy in criticising it when the world community is hailing development and progress and the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said, addressing a discussion at Sagar-Runi auditorium at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here.

Bangabandhu SangskritikJote (BSJ) and Swadhinata Parishad organized the discussion marking the 74th birthday of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In the beginning of his speech, Hasan congratulated the Premier on her birthday and said the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave independence of Bangladesh and his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the architect of modern prosperous Bangladersh. Bangladesh is now a role model of development before the world under her dynamic leadership, he added.

The information minister said she (Sheikh Hasina)is a living legend, her life is an episode of struggle and she is an example of a leader before the globe.

He said when the country is moving ahead indomitably and the world community is praising the development of the country and the leadership of the Premier, then BNP and its friends are busy in criticising.

Criticising some recent comments of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders, the information minister said actually they (BNP) had destroyed the politics. Ziaur Rahman used to say arrogantly that ‘Money is no problem’, and it was BNP who created ‘a market of selling and buying in politics’, he added.

Many senior leaders of BNP who are now talking loudly are the politicians of that market who were sold out, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said BNP started the trend of killing and abduction in the country’s politics and BNP was established through the politics of killing. Not only killing or abduction, they (BNP) passed a law in parliament for not holding the trial of the assassination of Bangabandhu, he added.

The information minister said hundreds of people were killed by conducting ‘Operation Clean Heart’ during the past BNP regime and indemnity was given in parliament for not holding trials of those killings. Now, he said, it seems ridiculous when they (BNP) talk about
killing while the politics of BNP has been based on murder.

Terming BNP as a party of rapist, Hasan said an eight-year-old baby was raped after the 2001 elections. They (BNP) repressed and raped hundreds of women after blocking a village for voting Awami League, he added.

For this, he said, BNP is not only a party of killers, it is the party of rapist as they didn’t hold any trial of any rape incident.

Hasan said Awami League is showing ‘zero tolerance’ against all crimes. The persons, who are involved in such incidents, branded as only criminals and they do not belong to any party, he added.

Both the government and the party (Awami League) are showing ‘zero tolerance’ against them and the criminals would be brought under trial, he added.

BSJ general secretary Arun Sarker Rana, Swadhinata Parishad president Mohammad Ali Jinnha, general secretary Shahadat Hossain, BSJ vice president Aruna Biswas, AL leaders MA Karim and Sadek Hossain, among others, addressed the discussion.
