JS body for improving digital services in remote areas

DHAKA, Sept 23, 2020 (BSS) – The 11th Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Post Tele Communication and Information Technology today recommended focusing on improving digital services in remote areas of the country, developing the postal department and increasing its quality of services.

The committee also suggested the authorities concerned to expand the activities of TeleTalk, a state-owned mobile phone operator in Bangladesh.

The parliamentary watchdog exchanged their remarks over its 7th meeting held at Sangsad Bhaban here with committee member Benjir Ahmed in the chair as the chairman of the committee AKM Rahmatullah was absent in it, an official release said.

The implementation progress of the decisions of the last meeting and the latest progress of various development projects were discussed in detail in the meeting.

They also discussed the progress of various project activities of the high-tech parks.

It was suggested to form a committee comprising representatives of the ministries concerned to expedite the disposal of the land issue allotted for the IT Village.

The meeting also discussed about the quality and marketing of ‘Doel’ laptop, a domestically made laptop, manufactured by Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (TSS).

Committee members Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Fahmi Gulandaz Babel, Ahmed Firoz Kabir, Md Nurul Amin, Monira Sultana, Zakia Parvin Khanam and Aparajita Haque took part in the meeting.

Secretaries concerned and senior officials of the foreign ministry and JS Secretariat were present.
