33 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 23, 2020 (BSS) – Thirty-three more people were tested
positive for coronavirus after testing samples today at the two
laboratories in Rangpur division where spread of the virus continues
to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 33 new infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection
rate of 8.77 percent.

Of them, 15 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 15 patients include six of Rangpur, two of Lalmonirhat,
four of Gaibandha and one each of Kurigram, Nilphamari and Dinajpur,”
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 18 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 18 new COVID-19 patients include four of Dinajpur, five of
Thakurgaon, two of Panchagarh and seven of Nilphamari districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after
completing the testing process at 7:55 pm tonight.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients rose to 11,745 as 33 new cases were reported from across the
division.

“”The district-wise break up of the 11,745 patients stands at 2,767
in Rangpur, 604 in Panchagarh, 1,038 in Nilphamari, 850 in
Lalmonirhat, 889 in Kurigram, 1,107 in Thakurgaon, 3,340 in Dinajpur
and 1,150 Gaibandha districts Dr. Siddiqui said.
