KILLING-EVICTION
A mason and a pedestrian killed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, SEP 23, 2020 (BSS) – A construction worker and a pedestrian were killed when a column of a building fell over them during the eviction drive on the DB road of the town here this afternoon.
Eye witnesses and police said the incident occurred when a column of the building fell on the worker and a passerby during the eviction drive conducted by the Roads and Highway that left one worker dead on the spot and another critically injured.
The injured worker was declared by the attending doctors while he was brought to Sadar Hospital.
The Roads and Highway department was carrying out the eviction drive to turn the road into 4 lanes and as part of it a post of the building of Janata Bank limited, Gaibandha branch abruptly fell on them.
The identities of the dead could not be known immediately.
Shortly after the incident, the agitating mob staged demonstration that forced the Roads and Highway to stop the drive.
