BGB seizes 3.50-lakh pieces of Yaba pills in Teknaf

DHAKA, Sept 23, 2020 (BSS) – The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered around 3.50 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets worth about Taka 10.50 crore in an abandoned condition from Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district last night.

“Acting on a tip-off, a BGB special patrol team seized four abandoned plastic sacks containing Yaba pills conducting a drive in a forest in Leda Churikhal area around 8.45pm on Tuesday,” a BGB statement said here today.

The yaba tablets were possibly gathered for smuggling to other parts of the country after bringing those by boats from Myanmar, the release said.

The BGB could not manage to arrest anyone as sensing the presence of paramilitary force, the drug dealers were able to cross the border and disappeared inside Myanmar.
