Light to moderate rain likely

DHAKA, Sept 20, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9am today.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna and Barishal divisions; at many places over Dhaka, Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over southern part of the country,” said a met office bulletin today.

Mild heat wave is sweeping over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Dhaka, Rangamati, M.court, Feni, Bogura, Sirajganj, Mongla, Jashore, Barishal and Bhola, which may abate from some places, said the bulletin.

Day temperature may fall by (1-3)o C and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, it added. Country’s highest temperature on Saturday was recorded 37.3 degrees Celsius at Sylhet and today’s lowest temperature 24.8 degrees Celsius at Khepupara.

The highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 72 millimeters (mm) at Barishal.

The sun sets at 5.57 pm today and rises at 5.47 am tomorrow in the capital.
