One held with 60 mobile phone sets in Dhaka Airport
DHAKA, Sept 14, 2020 (BSS) – Members of the preventive team of Dhaka Custom House detained a passenger at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with 60 expensive mobile phone sets of foreign brands today.
The detainee was identified as Jahangir Alam.
Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Customs House Md Solaiman Hossain told BSS that an Emirates Airlines (EK-574) plane landed in Dhaka from Dubai around midnight on Sunday and Jahangir Alam was the passenger of that plane.
On secret information, the members of the preventive team of Dhaka Custom House challenged him and scanned his luggage.
A total 60 pieces of ‘One Plus-Pro’ mobile phone sets worth around 60 lakh Tk were seized.
The official of Dhaka Customs House further said that the passenger during the initial interrogation admitted bringing the mobile phone sets from abroad.
Legal action has been taken against him in accordance with the customs law, said the official.
