AL, associate bodies plant more than 1cr trees on Mujib Year

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2020 (BSS) – As part of the tree plantation programme announced on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Awami League (AL), its associate and like-minded organizations have planted more than one crore trees across the country.

AL Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain said this after a tree planting programme organized on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and birthday of his younger daughter Sheikh Rehana here.

On the occasion, Sonalu and Haimanti trees were planted on the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) premises in the capital.

Delwar Hossain also said that the tree plantation programme is still going on throughout the country and a total of 15 lakh saplings were planted and distributed at the initiative of AL Forest and Environment Affairs Sub-committee.

Meanwhile, as part of the ‘Mujib Year’ programme, saplings of Chatim, Nageshwar, Agar, Mahua, Palash and Ashok were also planted at BCSIR.
