Probe body formed over Netrakona boat capsize

NETRAKONA, Sept 10, 2020 (BSS) – A five-member probe committee, headed by additional district magistrate Abdullah al Mamun, has been formed to investigate the boat capsize in the river Gumai at Kalmakanda upazila of Netrakona district.

At least 10 people, mostly women and children, were killed as the passenger’s vessel capsized after it collided with a sand-laden trawler in Gumai river on Wednesday morning.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman formed the probe body to investigate into the incident.

The probe committee has been asked to submit their report within the next seven days starting from today.

Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) of Kalmakanda upazila Mohammad Suhel Rana has been nominated as the member secretary of the committee.

The other members of the committee are – (OC) officer-in-charge of Kalmakanda police station Mohammad Mazharul Karim, upazila health officer Mohammad AL-Mamun and deputy director of fire service and civil defence department, Netrakona Abu Abdullah Mohammad Saifullah, the district administration sources said.
