Four killed in head-on collision in Habiganj
HABIGANJ, Sep 7, 2020 (BSS) – Four people, including Nazmul Islam Kajal, chairman of Jessore Bagharpara Upazila Parishad, were killed in a head-on collision between a Pajero jeep and speeding truck in Madhabpur upazila here around 4:30pm today.
Two of the deceased were identified as Ariful Islam, 35, son of Yusuf Ali Biswas of Bagharpara in Jessore and cousin of Chairman Kajal, and Akhi Akter, 20, daughter of Sumon Miah of Taltola area in Dhaka. The identity of the other person could not be known.
A woman named Mim, 25, a resident of Dhaka, was severely injured and was taken to Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Madhabpur Police Station OC M Iqbal Hossain told BSS that the accident occurred when a Sylhet-bound Pajero jeep from Dhaka collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction in Noapara area around 4:30pm, leaving two jeep passengers dead on the spot.
Two other victims died on way to the hospital.
The bodies of the deceased were kept in Madhabpur police station for being handed over to the families.
Police seized the truck, but the driver managed to flee away from the spot.
