Bangladesh sends 3,360 kg glass goods to Lebanon as aid

DHAKA, Sept 6, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh has sent 3,360 kg of glass products as aid to the Lebanese capital of Beirut that was shattered last month due to a huge explosion leaving around 190 people, including five Bangladeshi nationals, dead.

The Lebanese government has expressed its gratitude to Bangladesh for the supply, a foreign ministry press release said here today.

The Bangladesh government with the support of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) sent the supply through a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Earlier, the Lebanese government requested for the aid through Bangladesh mission in Beirut, as the explosion destroyed glass doors and windows of large numbers of residences, offices and factories in Beirut, said the release.

After the blast, Bangladesh sent nine metric tons of food items and two metric tons of medicines and medical supplies to Lebanon.
