DHAKA, Aug 27, 2020 (BSS) – The government has refixed the demand of chemical fertilisers for the current fiscal 2020-21 aiming to ensure intensive and extended cultivation in the country.

To meet the fertiliser demand, the government will collect additional one lakh metric tonne of urea and one lakh tonne of DAP fertiliser on an emergency basis through open competition, said a press release of the Agriculture Ministry.

Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will procure urea, while the Agriculture Ministry will collect DAP fertiliser, which will help boost food production and ensure the country’s food security.

Earlier, the government fixed the demand of 24.5 lakh metric tonnes of urea and 13 lakh tonnes of DAP fertilisers for the current fiscal. Now the fertiliser demand increased to 25.5 lakh metric tonnes of urea and 14 lakh tonnes of DAP.
