Nigeria releases commemorative stamps marking ‘Mujib Year’

DHAKA, Aug 27, 2020 (BSS) – Nigerian postal service today released a commemorative stamp celebrating the ‘Mujib Year’ marking birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a symbol of Bangladesh-Nigeria ties.

Nigerian foreign minister Geoffrey Onyeama along with his Bangladesh counterpart Dr A K Abul Momen jointly unveiled the commemorative stamps at a virtual platform, a foreign ministry release said here.

Bangladesh foreign minister thanked the Nigerian government for releasing the stamps as a tribute to Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu whose principle, sacrifice and lifelong struggle still encourage all freedom aspirant people across the globe.

Momen hoped that this friendly gesture of Nigeria would further deepen and strengthen the existing bilateral relations between Dhaka and Abuja.

The Nigerian foreign minister said his country released the stamp to show profound tribute to great leader Bangabandhu and as a symbol of amicability between the two friendly nations.

State minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam and foreign secretary Masud bin Momen, Bangladesh high commissioner to Nigeria M Shameem Ahsan and Nigerian postal service director general Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, among others also joined the virtual the ceremony, organised by Bangladesh mission in Nigerian capital Abuja.
