DHAKA, Aug 19, 2020 (BSS) – The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam today asked all to follow ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build themselves as patriotic citizens in the country.
“I urge government officials to take lessons from life of Bangabandhu that you (officials) are not rulers, you are the servants of state”, he told at a virtual discussion meeting on ‘Bangabandhu’s deeds and biography’ here.
The DNCC organized the discussion marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day.
Bangabandhu reflected his thinking in Article 21 (2) of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh that read it is the duty of every person employed in the service of the Republic to try to serve the people at all times.
“Bangabandhu had also said in a speech to the Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1972 that, ‘Government employees need to change their mindset that they are not rulers, but servants” Atiq added.
Atiqul said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to realize the dream of Bangabandhu to build a “Sonar Bangla” through implementing massive development programmes.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina truly believes that Bangladesh would be a poverty-free prosperous country, if unfinished tasks of Bangabandhu are completed by her government.
