Architect of Bangalee nation Bangabandhu was global leader: Hasan

DHAKA, Aug 10, 2020 (BSS)- Applauding highly of the leadership of Bangabandhu in earning an independent country, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said architect of the Bangali nation state Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not solely the leader of Bangladesh, rather a global leader.

“The Bangali nation has achieved the independence under the leadership of Bangabandhu and established the state through struggles. That’s why he (Bangabandhu) has been adored as the greatest Bangalee of all times and our Father of the Nation,” he said.

The information minister came up with these remarks while addressing the premiere show of a documentary titled ‘Bangabandhur Rajnoitik Jibon o Bangladesher Abhuday’ made by Bengal Multimedia Studio in city’s Tejgaon area.

Hasan said there was no state for Bangalees for thousands of years. “Many tried to get independence. But they could not achieve it. Even, the language of the last Nawab of Bangla Siraj ud-Daulah was not Bangla. The nation had achieved the independence under the leadership of Bangabandhu,” he added.

He said Bangabandhu was rebuilding a war-torn country and leading Bangladesh on the path to prosperity after the independence.

The information minister said the conspirators, who didn’t want the independence, had brutally killed Bangabandhu along with his most of family members when he was leading the country for its advancement after bringing back one crore homeless people from India, with another two crore refugees inside the country, a broken communication system and a country with zero foreign reserves.

The assassination of Bangabandhu was not only meant for killing him (Bangabandhu) rather the conspiracy of killing the independence of the Bangalee nation, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

“When Bangabandhu was assassinated in 1975, the country’s GDP growth was 7.4 percent. Even after 40 years of his assassination, we could not exceed that growth rate. Bangladesh exceeded 7.4 percent GDP growth in fiscal 2016-17 under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina,” he added.

The information minister said there were additional 10,000 metric tons of food grains in 1975. Returning home just after the independence of the country, Bangabandhu had devoted himself to nation-building tasks but the architect of independent Bangladesh could not materialise his dream, he added.

Hasan said Bangladesh could have become a developed nation like Singapore, South Korea and Malaysia many years ago if Bangabandhu could alive.

Hasan said Bangladesh is now moving ahead indomitably under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to materialise the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The information minister thanked the Bengal Multimedia Studio to make the documentary, terming it (documentary) as a unique document not only for Bangladesh, but also for the globe.

Lawmaker Nahim Razzak, AL office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, deputy publicity secretary Aminul Islam, senior journalist Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, former state minister for women and children affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, Bengal Multimedia Studio chief executive officer Syed Ashiq Rahman and its managing director Humayun Kabir, among others, addressed it.
