Stocks maintain positive trend

DHAKA, July 29, 2020 (BSS) – Like previous five days, stocks today also witnessed positive trends in Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as optimistic investors continued their buying interest on selective large-cap issues.

DSEX, the key index of the DSE, went up by 14.66 points or 0.35 percent to settle at 4,171.21. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also advanced 0.80 points to finish at 964.66. However, the DSE Shariah Index fell 0.75 points to close at 1,401.79.

Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Taka 3.99 billion on the country’s prime bourse, which is lower than the previous day’s turnover of Taka 4.45 billion.

Of the issues traded, 126 remained unchanged while 169 issues advanced and 58 declined on the DSE floor.

Eastern Insurance topped the turnover chart followed by Pioneer Insurance, Paramount, Beximco Pharma and Sonar Bangla Insurance.

Pioneer Insurance was the day’s best performer while United Insurance, MERCINS, Reliance Insurance and Eastern Insurance.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)—gaining 40.65 points to close at 11,874.81 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX –advancing 24.91 points to finish at 7,200.43.

Of the issues traded, 93 gained, 27 declined and 100 remained unchanged on the CSE.
