PM asks Swechasebak League to stand by people
DHAKA, July 27, 2020 (BSS) – Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina today urged Swechasebak League leaders and workers to always stand by the country’s people.
The premier came up with the call while speaking at a discussion through video conferencing from her Ganabhaban residence here.
The meeting was arranged at AL Bangabandhu Avenue Central Office, marking the 26th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami Swechasebak League.
Sheikh Hasina said Swechasebak League leaders and activists have stood by the people amid the coronavirus crisis and they have to do so in the same way.
“I want that you would always stand by the country’s people. You must build yourselves with the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she added.
Greeting the Swechasebak League leaders and workers, the AL President said: “Today is the birthday of Joy (Sajeeb Wazed Joy). I prayed for him (to Allah).”
Since its inception, she said, Swechasebak League has been providing support to different activities of Awami League.
Most importantly, the AL associate body stood by the destitute people amid coronavirus crisis while it helped farmers harvest their paddy, the prime minister said.
Besides, she said, Swechasebak League set an example through different voluntary works apart from standing beside the sick people and “that is why I express my gratitude to them”.
About the COVID-19 crisis, Sheikh Hasina said everybody must follow the health guidelines to prevent coronavirus.
Vowing to build Sonar Bengal as dreamt by Father of the Nation, she said: “We will build the Sonar Bengal. This is our goal. We would be able to do so, Insha Allah. I have that belief.”
The prime minister highlighted her firm commitment to doing her job amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Chaired by Swechasebak League president Nirmal Ranjan Guha and moderated by its general secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu, the discussion was attended, among others, by AL joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, office secretary barrister Biplab Barua and deputy office secretary Sayeem Khan.
At the end of the programme, a doa was offered seeking good health and long life of Sajeeb Wazed Joy on the occasion of his birthday.
