More trees need to be planted to cope with natural disasters: Razzak

DHAKA, July 19, 2020 (BSS) – Minister for Agriculture and President of Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad Dr M Abdur Razzak today said plenty of trees need to be planted across the country to cope with natural disasters and keep Bangladesh green.

He said this while inaugurating the tree plantation program of Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad on the occasion of Bangabadhu’s birth centenary on Krishibid Institution premises in the capital, said a press release.

He also said, Prime Minister has turned the tree plantation program into a movement as this year she (PM) urged everyone to plant native fruits, timber and medicinal trees.

Referring to devastating effects of the Covid-19 crisis, Razzak said, the Corona pandemic has come as a catastrophe all over the world.

So far, no specific mechanism has been devised to deal with the coronavirus outrage, the minister said adding that but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with her foresight and wisdom has taken various programs to get over this crisis successfully. For this, Bangladesh still is in a much better position as regard the corona situation, he added.

Among others, Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad Secretary General Krishibid AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Krishibid Institution Secretary General Khairul Alam Prince, former Director General of Agriculture Extension Department Hamidur Rahman and other leaders of Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad were present at the program.
